Café Marketshare

by Brian Warren on 08 January, 20056 Comments

I’m at a cafe in denver. We went to REI to search for some stuff for impending trip to Europe, and now we’re finishing up some nachos while surfing the net. There are four laptops open by various people around the cafe. All four of them are Apple laptops. 5% market share my eye.

Comments

  1. I agree that Apple’s market share continues to grow to well over 5%.  If it wasn’t growing their stock would not have more than doubled since this past summer.

Also, that cafe is obviously the hangout of people who are more intelligent than the average computer consumer.

  2. Ha ha ha! Good point AJ. Market share is a really hard thing to measure, as most Apple users buy computers and keep them for longer than the average PC user. So market share of computers “still in use” has got to be quite a bit different. Furthermore – measuring the marketshare of personal computers might reveal different numbers than measuring businesses/schools/home numbers combined.

  4. The Macintosh may have only 10% of the market. But it’s clearly the top 10%.

  5. I’m sure he meant:  “The top people in the category of people who want to feel like they are in an elite group of computer users” – LOL Brian this kind of stuff always generates some humorous posts.

  6. Welcome to the fray Dave. It wouldn’t be the same without you.
